GENEVA – State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) is hosting a blood drive in partnership with Versiti. The event will be held on Friday, July 31st at the South Elgin Municipal Annex, 1 W. State St, from 11:00am-3:00pm.
Representative Ugaste’s Blood Drive will help local blood banks increase their supply amid the countless cancelled blood drives across Illinois this spring and summer. The upcoming drive will help mitigate the blood shortage that has affected the state over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With blood drives this past spring cancelled due to COVID-19 and an uptick in surgeries and medical procedures the last month, there is an urgent need for blood donations,” said Rep. Ugaste. “When you donate blood, you can help save a life. At this critical time, I am looking forward to hosting this event and contributing to the blood supply.”
Walk-ins will be welcome, but an appointment is preferred. To schedule an appointment, use the following link: https://donate.illinois.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/5587382
Rep. Ugaste encourages all residents who are able to donate to wear a mask and practice social distancing upon arrival. With questions about the event, contact Rep. Ugaste’s office at (630) 797-5530.
The Representative will also be hosting a second blood drive in Geneva on August 22nd from 9:00am-1:00pm. Details for that blood drive will be announced in the coming weeks.
