Rep. Ugaste Joins Leader Durkin in Requesting Governor Make COVID-19 Plan for Reopening Public

ST. CHARLES – On Tuesday, State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) responded to House Republican Leader Jim Durkin’s (R-Western Springs) letter to Governor Pritzker requesting the Governor make public his plans to address COVID-19 and reopen Illinois. Rep. Ugaste’s response can be found below:

“I fully support and join Leader Durkin in requesting that the Governor reveal his plans to reopen Illinois. This is why I introduced House Bill 843 almost one year ago to the day. HB 843 requires the General Assembly or Illinois legislative leaders’ approval to extend an existing disaster proclamation or issue additional disaster proclamations regarding the same disaster. It would also allow the General Assembly to void a disaster proclamation.

“Governor Pritzker immediately needs to start working with us in the General Assembly to move past this pandemic, which also includes supporting voluntary masking, especially in Illinois schools. We need to work together to reopen our state.”
