ELGIN, IL – On Saturday, October 15, State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) and State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) are hosting a free shred event and food drive at the Gail Borden Public Library- Rakow Branch in Elgin, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
“The shred event and food drive we hosted in May in St. Charles was an incredible success, so Representative Ugaste and I thought we would host another event to serve our constituents in the Elgin area. The shred truck provides residents with a safe and secure way to dispose of sensitive documents like old bank statements, tax documents and receipts, and the food collection will benefit many families in need right here in the immediate area. I’m expecting another large turnout.”
Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. Shred staff will unload cars. Nonperishable food items will be accepted and distributed to local food pantries.
“Following our successful shred event and food drive in May, I’m glad to join Senator DeWitte for this event again in the fall,” said Rep. Ugaste. “Protecting personal information is important and this offers an opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents. While you’re stopping by, you can also drop off food for local food pantries and help neighbors in need.”
For additional information, constituents can call Sen. DeWitte’s office at (847) 214-8245, or Rep. Ugaste’s office at (630) 797-5530.
