On Saturday, June 3rd, State Senators Don DeWitte and Dave Syverson, and State Representatives Jeff Keicher and Dan Ugaste are partnering for a free shred event and food drive at the Town & Country Public Library in Elburn. A shred truck will be on site at the library, located at 320 E. North Street in Elburn from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, and documents will be accepted during that time, or until the truck is full. Non-perishable food items will also be collected and will be delivered to the Elburn Food Pantry.
“The shred truck provides residents with a safe and secure way to dispose of sensitive documents like old bank statements, tax documents, and receipts,” said DeWitte. “The food items we collect will benefit many families in need right here in the immediate area, so I’m expecting a large turnout.”
Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. Shred truck staff will unload cars. Parking will be available for those who wish to see their documents fed into the shredder.
“Area residents wanting to clean out their file cabinets and help the environment are welcome to bring their outdated documents to this free event for safe and confidential shredding,” said Syverson. “And any non-perishable food items they bring will be donated to the Elburn Food Pantry to help those in need.”
While paper folders, staples and paper clips can be fed into the shredder, large binder clips, plastic file folders, and old floppy discs cannot. Additionally, no electronics will be accepted for recycling or disposal.
“It’s always a pleasure to provide events like this to not only help residents protect their personal information but to benefit those in need in the community through supporting our local food pantries,” said Keicher. “I’m consistently blown away by the giving spirit in our communities, and I’m sure this event will be no different.”
“Summertime in the Fox Valley is a great opportunity to get out in the community and come together for a good cause,” said Ugaste. “Our Shred Day & Food Drive will give residents an opportunity to shred sensitive documents and donate food for the Elburn Food Pantry. I invite everyone to join us next Saturday to kick off your weekend!”
