Representative Ugaste & Senator DeWitte to Host Free Shred Event & Food Drive in Elgin

ST. CHARLES – On Saturday, October 14th, State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) and State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) are partnering for a free shred event and food drive at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin. A shred truck will be on-site at the library, located at 2751 W. Bowes Road in Elgin from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Documents will be accepted during that time, or until the truck is full. Non-perishable food items will also be collected.

“This event is always a great opportunity to help constituents safely dispose of their sensitive documents,” said Rep. Ugaste. “I encourage all 65th District constituents who have documents they would like to shred to stop by this event for a quick, free opportunity to help clean out your homes and offices. It’s also a great way to donate food to help our neighbors in need.”

“This time of year our local food pantries tend to run low on supplies for families in need, so I am hopeful our community members will step up to help as they’ve always done in the past,” said Sen. DeWitte. “As people are gathering their sensitive documents for free, safe, and secure destruction, I hope they will look through their kitchen pantry and grab a few nonperishable items to donate.”

Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. Shred truck staff will unload cars. Parking will be available for those who wish to see their documents fed into the shredder. While paper folders, staples, and paper clips can be fed into the shredder, large binder clips, plastic file folders, and old floppy discs cannot. Additionally, no electronics will be accepted for recycling or disposal.

For additional information on this event, constituents can call Sen. DeWitte’s office at (847) 214-8245 or Rep. Ugaste’s office at (630) 797-5530.
