A new law proposed by Democrats would require Illinois to adopt California’s over-the-top motor vehicle emission standards, and then require Illinois law to follow any changes made by California. While I fully support reducing pollution whenever reasonably possible, this bill goes too far as a mandate.
These emission standards would eliminate the production and use of gasoline-powered vehicles and force drivers to buy electric vehicles in Illinois in the near future.
