Springfield, IL – State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) has issued a statement following today’s FY 2027 Budget Address by Governor Pritzker:
“The Governor gave his eighth budget address today, and once again, like a broken record, we have been presented with the largest budget in state history. The budget proposal includes $728 million in new taxes, fees, and revenue increases on Illinois families; while total spending increases by nearly $1 billion over last year alone.
“Once again, nothing is being done to address the glaring issue of high taxes. Illinois ranks No. 1 in the country for the highest property taxes, and the highest combined state and local taxes. Not only is there no meaningful property tax relief included in the Governor’s budget, but he is also proposing to yet again remove what little property tax relief which had been in the budget.
“And while touting all of his ‘achievements,’ Governor Pritzker admitted the obvious, stating ‘Everything is just too damned expensive.’ No, kidding, Governor. Illinoisans are paying way too much in taxes and for electricity due to bad policies put in place by your party. Illinoisans deserve a government that works efficiently, is accountable and transparent, and enacts policies that make life more affordable.”
