SPRINGFIELD – On Wednesday, State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) joined fellow Republican legislators to call for business reform in Illinois at a State Capitol press conference. He joined State Representatives Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) and House Assistant Minority Leader John Cabello (R-Machesney Park) to discuss this urgent issue as businesses continue to leave Illinois.
“Illinois has incredible natural strengths and resources we have built over time that makes our state exceptional for job creators,” said Rep. Ugaste. “Yet we are losing jobs, not overseas, but right next door in other states. Instead of allocating one-time funds to incentivize businesses to come to Illinois, we should be cultivating a beneficial environment for job creators and families that promotes growth. By weeding out the bad policies of high property taxes and endless regulations, we can plant the seeds of success for our state economy and Illinois families.”
In February, Rep, Ugaste was appointed by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) to lead the Reigniting Illinois’ Strong Economy (RISE) working group. This working group aims to improve Illinois’ business climate while still protecting workers and using the strengths of the state to bring job creators and opportunities home. Rep. Ugaste has introduced multiple pieces of legislation, including bills focused on workers compensation reform, to help achieve these goals.
In addition to leading the RISE working group, Rep. Ugaste is the House Republican Spokesperson for the Financial Institutions & Licensing, Judiciary – Civil, and Labor & Commerce Committees.
