Springfield, IL – State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) issued a statement following Governor Pritzker’s Fiscal Year 2025 State Budget Address:
“Today we heard from the Governor about the looming $775 million deficit our State faces due to revenue growth that has hit the brakes since the beginning of his first term. The budget should be based on estimated revenue, but instead, the Governor proposed over $1 billion in new taxes and other gimmicks in an attempt to sustain the uncontrollable spending we have seen in the last four years.
“This budget raises taxes on employers and businesses by half a billion dollars. That is unacceptable. House Republicans have real solutions to bring to the table, including a property tax relief bill Rep. Ozinga and I introduced two weeks ago. Our focus will continue to be cutting taxes and reducing financial pressures on working families saddled with the worst inflation in more than 40 years.”
