Springfield, IL – State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) issued the following statement in response to the passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 state budget:
“One of the biggest problems we have in Illinois is over-taxation of businesses and residents, and this budget once again calls for huge tax increases. As we continue to enact policies that are not pro-growth, job creators are not going to be drawn to our state. This budget, crafted by Democrats with no Republican involvement, does not address the needs of our residents and instead doubles down on bad policies and misplaced priorities.
Illinois Democrats continue to demonstrate zero fiscal responsibility. Instead of focusing on growth and increasing revenue naturally, the Democrat majority just looks to new places to levy additional taxes and crush growth in Illinois. The Democrats need to start working with Republicans on new ideas to create growth and stop relying on the same failed policies.”
