Rep. Ugaste: HB 2161 Could Open Up Employers to Frivolous Lawsuits

Legislation passed by the General Assembly in May and currently awaiting the Governor’s signature could open up employers to frivolous lawsuits. House Bill 2161 prevents discrimination by an employer based on an employee’s family responsibilities.

However, Illinois already has laws on the books that prevent discrimination in the workplace. This legislation is going to increase claims and lawsuits, hurting our businesses and making it more difficult to attract and retain them.
