Rep. Ugaste Applauds DCEO Investment and Expansion of Richardson Electronics

St. Charles, IL – The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Richardson Electronics, Ltd. have announced an innovative project and significant investment that will allow for the expansion of the company’s operations at its manufacturing headquarters in the Kane County community of La Fox.

With support from the Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) program, Richardson Electronics plans to make a capital investment of more than $8.5 million over the next four years. Richardson Electronics plans to expand its operations, retain nearly 200 skilled employees, and create 54 new full-time jobs. The company will build upon its existing alternative energy business and develop next-generation energy storage products that support electric grid stability. This expansion and project will ultimately help address brownouts, reduce electricity costs, support renewable energy integration, and develop and produce battery energy storage system technologies.

“I would like to thank Kane County board member Rick Williams, Richardson Electronics, and the DCEO for their support in helping this critically important project move forward,” said State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva). “We must upgrade our energy grid, capacity, and storage options, and this innovative project will help do just that. This project also helps retain and add high-quality, skilled jobs for workers in the Fox Valley.”
