Rep. Ugaste Files Bill Shown to Reduce Auto Insurance Rates as Much as Ten Percent

Springfield, IL – State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) filed legislation today in Springfield designed to reduce the cost of auto insurance. The bill, HB4548, contains language changes and reforms to current state law that would help bring down premiums for motorists in Illinois.

“This legislation is based on recently enacted laws proven to work in another state,” stated Rep. Ugaste. “Within a few years, one of the largest auto insurance carriers reduced rates by 10 percent. Affordability matters to all Illinoisans; therefore, we must work to reduce unnecessarily high costs wherever we can. Given the House’s much publicized commitment to affordability, I am confident I will get a hearing on the bill in the coming weeks. As high taxes continue to affect Illinois families, it is critical we pass whatever laws we can to lower the cost of living in our state. I believe this would be a big step in the right direction.”
