GENEVA—In response to the ongoing and growing COVID-19 pandemic, State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) is launching a program to help those in need in his 65th District. The program, called “Neighbor to Neighbor,” asks residents in good health to deliver groceries and needed items to those who cannot leave their homes to get them. The program is geared toward helping those most at risk of contracting coronavirus, like senior citizens. In addition to assisting in the deliveries, Rep. Ugaste’s office will coordinate the effort.
“As the period of time we are asked to stay at home and social distance continues due to the pandemic, I want to try to ensure that residents in my community who may not be able to get the essentials they need continue to receive them,” said Ugaste. “While my physical district office has been closed, we are still working and want to continue to be a resource for residents during this time.”
As the need for those most at risk to stay in their home continues, and especially in the event that the Stay at Home Order is extended, “It is important that we help those for whom it is too risky to help themselves, while we continue to follow protocol for the safety of our community,” continued Ugaste. “If you are able to help or if you need something, please contact my office. We want to help. We are all in this together.”
Rep. Ugaste is encouraging anyone in his district who is in need to contact his office at (630) 797-5530 or email him for assistance. The Representative and the volunteers can go to the grocery store or the pharmacy to get you what you need so you do not have to leave your home. Ugaste reminds those who are healthy, “Those who need assistance need others who are healthy to volunteer for this program work.”
If you are healthy and are willing to help Rep. Ugaste with “Neighbor to Neighbor,” please email the office at ugaste@ilhousegop.org.
